Costs & Scholarships

Below are the detailed costs for Service Academy Sponsored Preps. The costs encompass Tuition, Room, Board, Laptop Computer Rental Fee, Uniforms, and other set fees. The New Mexico Military Alumni Foundation generously offers an additional scholarship to Sponsored Preps, significantly reducing out-of-pocket costs. This support makes education more accessible for cadets. The rates below have been adjusted by the NMMI Foundation Scholarship is indicated in the rates below

 

West Point Civil PREP: $2,500.00 (An additional $1,000.00 NMMI Foundation Scholarship for passing the CFA at the end of week 2)

Air Force Falcon PREP: $2,000.00

Navy Foundation PREP: $3,500.00

Merchant Marine PREP: $3,750.00

Self-Preps (Not Sponsored): $15,000.00 Estimated ($9000.00 Fall semester and $6,000.00 Spring semester.

Rates very and a Self-Prep may be charged in-state or out-of-state tuition based on their residency status. They might also be eligible for a tuition discount through the Western Undergraduate Program and US Armed Services Tuition Discount awards.

NOTE: that personal expenses and the cost of books are not included in these costs.

Important: The total costs can be further reduced by individual grants, loans, and scholarships. SEE BELOW

The above estimates do not consider other potential sources of financial aid for which you may be eligible, such as:

Pell Grants – These are awarded to eligible applicants in amounts ranging from $100 to $5,815.

Direct Loan of $3,500 for the first year.

Federal Parents Loan (PLUS) – This may cover the remaining cost of attendance for eligible individuals.

Federal Work-Study Program (FWSP) – This is available for eligible applicants.

Supplemental Educational Opportunity Grant (SEOG) – This is available to eligible applicants.

Cadets from all service branches who meet all Army ROTC requirements may receive an approximate $750 reduction in their second semester costs.

All applicants are encouraged to apply for FAFSA, the Free Application for Federal Student Aid. This form helps determine the amount a family is expected to contribute towards the cost of attending a post-secondary institution. The FAFSA results are used to determine student grants, work-study, and loan amounts. NMMI offers many other scholarships to eligible applicants.
