Below are the sample costs for Service Academy Sponsored Preps, reflecting the annual adjustments made by NMMI and the scholarship support provided by the service academies.
The tentative costs for Scholars/Sponsored Preps at NMMI are outlined below. These costs cover Tuition, Room, Board, Laptop Computer Rental Fee, Uniforms, and other associated fees.
Additionally, the New Mexico Military Institute Alumni Foundation generously provides a scholarship to Sponsored Preps, significantly reducing their out-of-pocket expenses and making education more accessible. The rates listed below reflect the adjustments made through the NMMI Foundation Scholarship.
Each Service Academy Foundation will determine its scholarship amount, which is not included in the cost below.
NMMI cost is 23,414 and with Scholarships and immediate Acceptance costs are:
Air Force (USAFA) – $13,297 not including Air Force Foundation Scholarship
Navy (USNA) – $12,914 not including Naval Academy Foundation Scholarship
Merchant Marine (USMMA) – $11,414 not including MMA Scholarship
West Point (USMA) – $16,914 not including USMA Scholarship (includes NMMI Foundation Scholarship for passing the CFA at the end of two weeks)
NOTE: that personal expenses and the cost of books are not included in these costs.

The above estimates do not consider other potential sources of financial aid for which you may be eligible, such as:
Pell Grants – These are awarded to eligible applicants in amounts ranging from $100 to $5,815.
Direct Loan of $3,500 for the first year.
Federal Parents Loan (PLUS) – This may cover the remaining cost of attendance for eligible individuals.
Federal Work-Study Program (FWSP) – This is available for eligible applicants.
Supplemental Educational Opportunity Grant (SEOG) – This is available to eligible applicants.
All applicants are encouraged to apply for FAFSA, the Free Application for Federal Student Aid. This form helps determine the amount a family is expected to contribute towards the cost of attending a post-secondary institution. The FAFSA results are used to determine student grants, work-study, and loan amounts. NMMI offers many other scholarships to eligible applicants.
